Sylvia Strobel is a senior partner in the entertainment law firm LEHMANN STROBEL PC. She has served as an attorney and business advisor to the entertainment community for over 20 years, with a focus on intellectual property, media law and digital rights management. She has worked closely with public radio and television stations and independent producers for many years, including as an attorney and business advisor to the members of the National Minority Consortia. From 2005 to 2009, Strobel served as President and General Manager of the Pennsylvania Public Television Network, where she oversaw network operations, state funding and grants administration for the Commonwealth’s eight public television stations. She is currently Executive Director of the Alliance for Community Media, which serves as a resource and advocate for the nation’s 3000 Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) cable television channels. Her education includes a BA in Biology (St. Olaf College), a Juris Doctor (Wm. Mitchell College of Law) and a Masters in Business Administration (University of Minnesota Carleton School of Business). She is the immediate past Chair of the national board of directors of the Alliance for Women in Media (formerly American Women in Radio and Television), and is a member of the National Press Club, the Radio and Television Digital News Association, and the Federal Communications Bar Association. Sylvia has also worked in management at Twin Cities Public Television and in business affairs at the Corporation for Public Television. She is licensed in Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
